Working from home

Business VPN. Office files and accounting software, available from home.

Over the VPN, your employee connects to the office network and, from home, opens the accounting software, files on the server or their own office computer. We build the VPN on OpenVPN or WireGuard, and everyone gets named access.

Scope

From home to whatever the team works on in the office

We agree on the scope after the audit. The router and VPN are also a stage of the IT Transformation.

VPN in the IT Transformation

What employees reach over the VPN

  • Accounting software

The software’s SQL database, for example Optima’s, sits on the office server, and the employee connects to it from home.

  • Files on the server and NAS

The employee opens folders on the server or network drive (NAS) from home, according to their permissions.

  • Remote Desktop (RDP)

The employee connects to their own office computer and works on it remotely.

  • Duo Security – option

Signing in to the VPN can require confirmation on the phone. This costs more to set up: an extra Duo Authentication Proxy server and RADIUS.

Named access

Everyone works from home on their own access

Over the VPN, an employee sees the resources they have permissions for. When someone leaves the company, you switch off their access yourself or we do it on request, and nobody else has to change passwords. Employees connect to the VPN from a computer and from a phone. We configure the office router with a firewall.

  • named access
  • computer and phone
  • router and firewall

Office without a public IP

Access from home even without a public address

When a small office’s connection has no public IP address, Cloudflare Tunnel is an option. The cloudflared program runs on a server or NAS in the office, or in a container on a more powerful MikroTik router with RouterOS 7. It connects to Cloudflare on its own, so we do not open any ports on the router. Employees sign in by name through Cloudflare Zero Trust in the WARP app on a computer or phone.

  • no open ports
  • Zero Trust and the WARP app

FAQ

Questions about VPN

If your question is not here, call us.

Can we order a VPN without the IT Transformation?

Yes. We also configure VPNs on their own, as a network and infrastructure service. We agree on the scope and quote after the audit.

OpenVPN or WireGuard – which one?

By default we set up OpenVPN, because it is a proven standard. We choose WireGuard where connection speed matters. Either way, every employee has named access.

Can you configure the VPN remotely?

Partly, yes – for example, we make changes to router settings remotely. For companies in Warsaw and the surrounding area, we come on site.
